Using EndNote with a Mac

The version of the EndNote software purchased by the University is for use with Windows and is not compatible with Macs.

It is possible to purchase an individual EndNote licence for use with a Mac from Adept Science at a reduced student rate. Alternatively, you could try looking at the open source reference management software Zotero. Although you will not be able to format references automatically into the Coventry University Harvard Style, you should be able to get a close match which can then be altered as needed.

  • Is there any reason someone can't create the style you need? First step is just to find the current CSL Harvard style that is closest, then to itemize exactly how your's differs. Post that information on the Zotero forums, and someone (maybe even me!) will probably be able to help out.

  • In what ways does the Coventry style differ from the seven zotero styles for Harvard-like referencing?

  • The Coventry Harvard style was created in-house at the University by the Centre for Academic Writing. A full guide to the style is available from the Coventry University website

  • You have conflicting licenses on your style guide. On one hand, it states you have a creative commons by-nc-nd license. On the other, it states "The Coventry University Harvard Style resources are free for Coventry University staff and students only, unless arranged by special permission."

I'd suggest the out-right removal of the latter & would appreciate explicit written consent for a CSL style to be made, based on your manual. I'd really like for that style file to be released under CC by-sa, but may be flexible if you truly see a need to prevent commercial use and/or derivatives.

  • The Coventry University Harvard Style was created by the University’s Centre for Academic Writing. All comments/questions relating to the style should be directed to them. I’m sure they would be prepared to consider your views.
